The first thing that comes to anyone’s mind when they hear the word spa is a time to relax and rejuvenate.

This relaxation and rejuvenation is required for your hair as well. Hair Spas are becoming very common nowadays as they are known to be beneficial for your hair. A hair spa can help in conditioning of the hair. It can also help you reduce dandruff, hair fall, and dryness of hair.

So do you need any more reasons to do a hair spa? The best part, you don’t need to keep visiting the parlour and spending money. You can do it right from your home. No we aren’t kidding!

Follow these simple steps for doing a hair spa at home:

Step 1 – Oil your hair

The first step in doing a hair spa is to oil your hair well. Take some olive oil or coconut oil, heat it a little bit, then apply it on your hair. You could also leave it on overnight so as to condition it well.

Step 2 – Massage your scalp

While you oil your hair, make sure to massage it well. You could massage it in a circular motions for 5-10 minutes. Massaging your scalp is known to increase blood circulation and hair growth. Always massage it gently so as to not cause breakage due to pulling.

Step 3 – Wash your hair

The next step would involve washing your hair. Use a mild shampoo while doing so. Even though we all love our hot water showers, it is known to weaken the roots thus cause breakage. Always try to use lukewarm or cold water in order to prevent such damage.
In case you have coloured your hair, use a shampoo that is suited for coloured hair.

Step 4 – Apply Conditioner

Once you have washed the oil, you should apply conditioner on your hair. You can use a conditioner that you have bought or make your own at home.  A mixture of tea leaves water and a few drops of lime juice is known to act as a great conditioner.

Step 5 – Rinse

Once you have applied conditioner on your hair, after keeping it for a few minutes rinse it off. Use cold or lukewarm water while doing so.

Step 6 – Hair Pack

The last step in a hair spa is to apply a hair pack. Once you are done oiling, massaging, shampooing and conditioning your hair, it is now time to apply a hair mask. You can buy a readymade hair mask or make one with ingredients at home.

Here is a common hair mask that most people use –

  • Mix one or two eggs according to your hair length with some coconut oil
  • Apply it as a hair mask.
  • Cover the hair with a warm towel for minimum 20 minutes
  • Wash off with a mild shampoo.

Now that you know how simple it is, pamper your hair with a hair spa today! Add this to your hair care ritual as often as you can for best results.
